Its winter, so our maple trees are dormant and the farmers markets are closed. So what do we do on a Maple Farm?
At Stoney Ridge Farms, we are preparing for Spring and “the liquid Gold Rush”. While we have some time, we have run tubing in another Sugar Bush, in expectation of increasing our taps by 50%. And we are preparing the Sugar Shed for the new season, with a new ceiling in the store, with insulation and a wood furnace to keep us all warm. The evaporator is cleaned up and ready to go. The wood is split and stacked.
We held our first Stoney Ridge Farm Maple Weekend Open House in 2014. We experienced sun, snow, a little rain, and lots of syrup, pancakes, coffee, and we met our neighbors, family and many new friends.
We want to invite you, your family, and your friends to visit us from 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday March 21st, 22nd, 23rd & 28th and 29th 2015.
Come tour our state of the art maple shed. Come learn about the history of maple syrup and the benefits of the best syrup. Watch as the sap from our trees is cooked into syrup, see our maple syrup demonstrations, taste the flavors of this year’s fresh syrup, get recipes for cooking with maple. Parents and children will enjoy our outdoor activities, and everyone can partake in the pancake breakfast.
We are offering a wide variety of maple products including maple syrup, molded candy, maple cream, granulated sugar and BBQ sauce.
We welcome you to stop by and tour the shed!
