Boiling Sap

2016 opening the steam ventsThe first step toward Maple Weekend is always the boiling of our sap.  This year, sap started flowing early, with our first boil on February 2, 2016.

The sugar house is well equipped, but the work requires constant attention Рfrom feeding the fire to checking the syrup and drawing off the final syrup.  Fortunately we have lots of help when it is needed.
